Private Yoga & Movement Coaching
Bespoke one-to-one and small group sessions in and around Ilkley.
Strength. Mobility. Breath. Control.
Build a body you can trust.
When taught well, yoga is far more than a sequence of poses.
It helps us revisit natural human movement patterns, improve body awareness, build strength through range, develop balance and coordination, and notice where the body has learned to compensate.
That is the umbrella under which I work.
Your private practice may be flowing and breath-led, slower and more technical, focused on mobility and control, or designed to feel stronger and more conditioning-led. It may include held positions, repeated transitions, balance work, active range, core strength, bodyweight loading and progressive movement challenges, all taught within a yoga-based practice.
The balance depends on what you want to achieve.
You may want to develop a stronger yoga practice, support your sport or existing training, improve movement quality, build more usable range, or work in a way that feels more athletic.
We do not force positions or pursue flexibility for its own sake. Range of motion often develops naturally as you build the strength and control to use it.
Where the body compensates, loses stability or cannot maintain the breath, we work within that range before adding greater movement, load or complexity.
Whether you are starting again, already active, training for sport, working around stiffness or simply want a more discreet and personal way to move, each session is shaped around you.

What to Expect
-
Every session begins with where you are now.
I look at how you move, how you breathe, how you hold yourself and what you want to work towards. From there, I create a session that supports your body, your goals and your confidence.
This may include strength-based yoga, mobility work, balance, breathwork, controlled transitions, deep core work, glute and hip stability, shoulder mobility, posture work, or a stronger flowing practice.
The session is not pre-written and squeezed around you.
It is built for you.
-
Private sessions are suitable for a wide range of people.
You may want personal support because you feel nervous in group classes, have a specific goal, want to improve your movement, prefer privacy, or need a practice that works around your body rather than asking your body to fit the practice.
They can be especially useful if you:
Want to build strength, mobility and confidence
Feel stiff, unsteady or disconnected from your body
Are returning to movement after time away
Already train, run, climb, lift or play sport
Want better balance, posture or joint control
Prefer a quiet, discreet and personal setting
Want a more intelligent practice than a general class can offer.
-
Not quite.
Yoga is the foundation, but the work is broader than simply moving through poses.
My approach is yoga-informed, strength-based and movement-led. We use breath, awareness, stability and controlled range to help your body move better.
The aim is not to perform shapes.
The aim is to understand your body, build trust in it and move with more control in everyday life, sport and practice.
-
You do not need to be flexible.
In fact, flexibility is rarely the main goal.
Many people think they need more flexibility, when what they often need is more control, more strength at end range and better awareness of how their body is moving.
We work within your current range and build from there.
No forcing. No pushing deeper. No making your body perform something it is not ready for.
-
Private sessions can support active bodies.
If you run, climb, lift weights, cycle, play golf, tennis or another sport, the work can be shaped around mobility, recovery, breath under load, balance, joint control and movement quality.
The goal is to help your body move well in the things you already do.
Not to replace your training.
To support it.
-
That is completely fine.
Private sessions give you space to practise without comparison, pressure or performance.
We can start slowly, keep things simple and build confidence gradually. You will not be forced into positions that feel wrong for your body, and you do not need to arrive already knowing what to do.
You can ask questions, make mistakes, pause, laugh, reset and learn.
That is part of the work.
-
In a group class, I teach the room.
In a private session, I teach you.
That means I can observe your movement more closely, adapt the practice in real time, work with your goals, support injury considerations, build progression and help you understand what your body is doing.
It is more personal, more precise and more responsive.
-
Yes.
Private means private.
There is no pressure to be photographed, filmed, posted online or used as a progress story.
You can come with a clear goal, a specific issue, or simply a feeling that you want to move and feel better.
Everything is treated with care and discretion.
